Beyond the Blackboard: A New Chapter in a Teacher’s Life.
Ndinaye Chengeta, a name once synonymous with the vibrant world of media—a talented teacher, videographer, and DJ—has embarked on an extraordinary journey, transforming himself into a successful farmer and CEO of Youth Development Farm.
His entrepreneurial spirit ignited after a significant financial windfall from a 2.4 million tender deal in film production. Instead of indulging in fleeting pleasures, Chengeta sought to build something lasting. Inspired by a modest gift from his grandmother—a few goats—he embarked on a path that would lead him to agricultural innovation.
The first step was to ensure the well-being of his growing livestock. He invested in a borehole, a crucial infrastructure that would not only sustain his animals but also lay the foundation for a larger vision. As his herd expanded, a friend’s suggestion sparked a new idea: why not utilize his land to accommodate other farmers?
What began as a simple idea soon blossomed into a thriving agricultural estate. The 12-hectare land became a hub for poultry farmers, offering rental spaces to nurture their flocks. As the farm’s reputation grew, it diversified its offerings, incorporating the rearing of rabbits, guinea fowls, goats, and other livestock.
Chengeta’s unwavering determination has been a driving force behind the farm’s success. Despite numerous setbacks and failures, he remains resolute, embodying the spirit of “die rich or die trying.” His vision extends beyond farming, encompassing ambitious projects like a lodging facility and an executive camp.
Through his journey, Chengeta challenges the conventional mindset of Africans. He believes in the continent’s potential to manage its own affairs and foster sustainable development. By embracing innovation, hard work, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, he inspires others to unlock their own entrepreneurial potential.
