Marley For The Hero Title.

Born on 6th February 1945, Robert Nesta Marley, is a Jamaican Global icon and trailblazer of Reggae Music.  At the age of 8, Mr Marley was in Trench town where he met ,Vincent Fort as his mentor.

Trench town is  home to reggae music. One Mr. Trench, an Irish Jamaican owned Trench town, the notable town for raising Reggae artists like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Morley Smith, Bunny Wailer, Alton Ellis.

Bob Marley was an activist for human rights, an activist for the better treatment of people. A revolutionary leader, an embodiment of love, self worth and peace. He represented what his emperor majesty, Haile Selassie represented, that “no one race has that authority to stand superior to the other race”.

He did that peacefully not with violence. He preached self worth and  awareness with his genre of music. He made you think about how to better your lives with his lyrics

Lisa Hanna, Parliamentarian of Jamaica reiterates, his lyrics should be taught in the universities, in a way that people need to understand how to move in the direction that better your life to bring forth progress.

In Jamaica, Maya  realises Jamaica has 7 heroes; Sam Shape,  Nanny of the Maroons, Sir Alexander Bustamante, Norman Washington Marley etc. Unlike them  and the impact he has made, Bob Marley is denied the title.

 Where is Bob Marley?

“Years of colonial instruction on the Jamaican psyche, with regards to what a pictorial view of what morality looks like makes it quite difficult to make him a national hero. Probably because he has the locks, but that is part of who we are, our identity, if we can see past that, It’ll be easier to see him as one”. – Lisa Hanna, Parliamentarian Jamaica.

Nevertheless, Bob Marley Day is celebrated in honour of Marley on his Birthday. There is the Bob Marley beach and other honourable things in his commemoration.

For Wode Maya, Jamaica exposes him to who Bob Marley is, his story, legacy, culture, impact on his people and the African continent at large. For some, whether a title or not, he forever remains a hero in the hearts of many and his impact still lives on.

Marley Museum preserves his legacy after he passed in 1981.
